Description
Taught by national and international speaker, and imaging expert Dr. Theresa Campo, this course will help you learn how to evaluate extremity injuries, order imaging, and interpret X-rays. Common adult and pediatric orthopedic injuries are discussed.
Based on the mechanism of injury, pain, and clinical findings, you will learn to:
- Use screening tools and evidence-based practice guidelines to determine appropriate medical imaging studies based on the mechanism of injury.
- To order imaging based on positives and negatives of each modality (radiographs (X-rays, CT, MRI, and ultrasound).
- Interpret radiographs of the upper and lower extremities including adult and pediatric considerations.
- Differentiate normal from abnormal findings on the plain radiographs.
This course provides 4.6 of the 30 continuing emergency care education hours in emergency care.
